Twain

Twain is perhaps one of the most successful cities to come out of the cataclysm. Situated on two banks of the Big Miss River, it's a hub of both overland and waterway trade, and has the agricultural output to support not only its large population but also to serve as something of a breadbasket for other cities in the region. Using the river, Twain is also one of the few cities to set up power generation again, which it uses to fuel some infant industry. The town is ruled over by the Rust Barons, families whose lineages are said to be ancient and can be traced back to before the cataclysm. They have a hand in everything, and their powers are tempered only by the democratically elected Council of Carthage.
